Spaces madeto be lived inslowly.

Atelier Nord is a small studio working between Copenhagen and Lisbon. We design a few homes a year, closely, drawing every detail and staying with each one from the first conversation to the day you move in.

On how we work

We believe a good room asks for very little. Light that moves through the day, materials that age honestly, and proportions you stop noticing because they are simply right. Everything we make begins by taking things away.

What we do

01

Architecture

Ground-up homes and considered additions, from first sketch through to the last detail on site.

02

Interior architecture

Reworking the bones of a space - light, proportion, materials - before a single object enters it.

03

Furniture & objects

Built-in joinery and a small line of pieces drawn for a specific room and made by hand.

04

Art direction

Styling, sourcing and the final layer that lets a finished space settle and feel lived in.

A calm interior with warm neutral tones, natural materials and soft daylight

The studio

A small practice, by design.

We are a studio of seven, founded in 2009. We keep the practice deliberately small so the people you meet at the first conversation are the same people drawing your house and standing on site when it is built.

Our work moves between architecture and the interior without much ceremony. We tend to think the two are the same problem seen from different distances.

How a project unfolds

01

Conversation

We start with a long, unhurried talk about how you actually live, and whether we are right for each other.

02

Concept

A single clear idea for the project, expressed in plans, materials and a handful of reference images.

03

Development

Drawings, models and samples worked through together until every decision is deliberate.

04

On site

We stay close to the build, protecting the idea through to the moment you move in.

A short, structured brief is the best way to start. It takes a few minutes, and it tells us almost everything we need for a first conversation.
